Fabric + Embroidery = Love

Normally designs are hush, hush...can't share them with you before the next quilt market. But Chelsea Manor is shipping to local quilt shops February 28th, and we've been working on new patterns to go with the line!

Just look at these embroidered blocks and how they look with my new fabric! "Rabbits Prefer Embroidery", my newest pattern, will be released around the same time Chelsea Manor ships.

Red and cream and loved all over! These bunnies just make me smile. I even have a bunny on a scooter! Reminds me of my grand-daughters on the way to school.

Do you love embroidery like I do? Then go to your local quilt shop and be sure they ordered the fabric! Ask for both the red and brown color ways so you can buy it all in one place! "Chelsea Manor" from Henry Glass Fabrics and Bunny Hill Designs.

The Bunny Hill girls have all been busy making embroidered blocks and we'll have more to show very soon. I can't wait to show you what I'm doing with the brown color way!

In the next week or two I'll be giving away a fat quarter of the entire collection. Be sure and check back! You may be the first to own Chelsea Manor!

I'll be giving you some embroidery tips in the next few posts so you can pratice along with me. You'll be ready for this fabric as soon as it arrives!

Oh, and my friend Anne has posted a tutorial on how to applique with wool. She has some great tips to share! She's making the wool version of "A Tisket, A Tasket".

Be back soon with thread in hand,

Trouble In The Studio!

Trouble again...

She did it. Brittney has been a "bad girl" and I had to tell her she couldn't pick the winner. She's been hoarding all the comments and making fun of "Bunny". And then to make it worse she hid some of my pictures...completely moved them to where she thought they should be.

I've moved on to other methods for this drawing. I had Ross (DH) cut up all your comments and put them into my favorite basket. But then he said, "it's not fair to the people in the bottom of the basket". So off I went to find another container...So if Brittney can't pick the winner who can?

Not Miss Chelsea for sure. She's a bit of a bad girl too. She's been binge eating Kitten Chow and now she's banned from the cat bowls. She can hardly bend over to pick the winner. The vet is going to kill me. Chelsea needs those toenails cut and I'm going to make Ross take her in. That way the vet will yell at him and not me.

So from now on it's a strict diet of veggies and NO dip...

Miss Mooch has been binge eating Kitten Chow too. No more for her, I threw out the bag. Don't care how much she begs, it's Science Diet or nothing. She really can't bend over. She's gained five pounds since we brought home this starved, skinny cat.

She thinks shes on a diet of the finest shimp tee hee!

So you can tell, from the tone of my writing, that there are some strict rules going to be applied at the Bunny Hill studio. Brittney, Miss Mooch and Chelsea are on the list. It's embarrassing because EVERYONE comments on how heavy they are (well not Brittney, but the other two for sure).

So, who's left to pick the winner? Well just look at this sweet little Bitsy. She may be old, but doesn't binge (unless it comes to sweets). She's slim and trim and she makes me proud. So, Bitsy will you please pick from the bowl?

Bitsy?

Oh no, she's letting Chelsea in!

Yep, there she is, she's in the bowl...

Head goes in...

And Chelsea comes out with a winner. XXXOOO to Bitsy for being so sweet and letting Chelsea pick the winner...

It's Doreen B, from Monday January 26th who said:
Beautiful fabric and congrats with "Brittney" Please enter me into your draw - Love the fabric and that neat pattern.

Doreen send me an email with your address and we'll send your prize right off...

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of you who visited my blog and to each and everyone of you who left a comment.

If you'd like to buy some of the angel fabric you can find it at http://www.thimblecreek.com/ and in a few days I'll have bundles on my web site.

Check back tomorrow and I'll show you what we've been working on! It's red and cream and has lots of embroidery!

She's Arrived, Yes She Has!

I spent the weekend with my new computer. I've named her Brittney and believe me she's earned that name. No pushing this one around. She settled in the studio and then it all began. I could tell from the start she was going to be trouble. No talking to the other computer, no mam, not her. She's a bad girl!

I thought I might have to send her back. A trouble maker I can't have, so I called in the tech squad (my son). It took all weekend but she's finally calmed down. Now we have a Brittney (aka Vista) and Bunny (aka XP), both with pink desktops and a pink mouse. Seems to have helped. At least they're talking!

If she continues to be good, I'll have her select the winner of my give away! That's right, on Thursday morning I'll be giving away a bundle of my "Angel House" fabric, along with my pattern "Postcard Cuties for Angels. A random number drawing by Ms. Brittney (I hope)!

One lucky winner will find this package on their door step very soon! You know what to do. Leave a comment and you'll be entered. See you Thursday morning!

We've Been Busy!

We've been busy in the Bunny Hill Studio. Really Busy! My bunny helpers, Nancy and Robin, have been helping me cut up 19 bolts of "Angel House" fabric, and right now we have stacks and stacks sitting all over the studio. Glad you're not coming to visit! I'd have some serious picking up to do.

And why are we cutting up all this fabric? We're putting together bundles for the Bunny Hill web site. Finally! It's definitely more fun to cut fabric with friends. We watched the Inauguration and cut fabric at the same time!

We did have a few who were not happy we were so busy....

My grand-daughter's are waiting for me to make cookies with them. You can see they have high expectations. They put a sticky note on all the pages they want to try. I think there might be 25 sticky notes in this recipe book. They'll be happy when the bundles are done and they can get me back into the kitchen.

And Chelsea...what can I say. She's not getting any attention. She'd like us to finish up really soon. I promised her by Friday.

...So that means in a few days I should be able give away a bundle of some Angel Fabric!

Hugs all!

Oh pleeeease!

Chelsea was really excited when she saw my new fabric line arrive. She LOVES the UPS man AND she's feeling kind of cool about fabric named after her. I mean after all, doesn't Chelsea Manor sound a bit important and a little regal?

But when I tied her new ABC bow from my Chelsea Manor fabric on her neck all she could say was "oh pleeeeease"!

After Nancy and I carried all these bolts up to the studio, and tore open a few of them, I knew I was in love with the fabric and Chelsea knew she was in trouble.

We took out the embroidered bunny blocks and tomorrow Nancy and I will start cutting fabric and sewing together my new quilt. Chelsea Manor and Rabbits Prefer Redwork are coming to life! I just can't wait to share this fabric with you!

Nancy and I kept looking at the fabric and looking at Chelsea and who knows what we'll make next?

Does she look a little worried? TEE HEE!

If I can tear myself away from this fabric I'll be back with another post soon! Maybe we'll have a giveaway before too long!

Right about now Bitsy is really glad her name isn't Chelsea.

Creating a Quilt

I'm so excited because I'm waiting for this man in the brown truck...

...to deliver a package from New York. It looks just like this and I've been tracking it for several days. It arrives here on Wednesday as long as it doesn't snow in Arizona!

I'll give you a little hint as to what's inside the box...it's red, cream and brown, it has some bunnies on it and it means I'll be able to sew up a storm! It's the advance yardage of my "Chelsea Manor" fabric from Henry Glass Fabrics! Finally I'll be able to finish up my next pattern called "Rabbits Prefer Embroidery!

As I wait for my fabric to arrive, I've put together a little presentation to show you how this all began...how "Rabbits Prefer Embroidery" and Chelsea Manor got their start...

Here's what to do; turn up your sound (it has music), set your computer to full screen for best viewing, and click on play. I've made a little slide show for you! When it finishes playing just hit the escape tab on your keyboard and you can "x" out. You'll see the quilt I'll be sewing together this week! A new pattern coming very soon from Bunny Hill Designs!

You can make a smile box creation too! Just click on this link to get started! http://www.smilebox.com/

This is going to be fun!

This block of the month is going to be so much fun! I can't believe how many of you already have blocks finished! I've started a flickr group so you can post your versions of the blocks as we go along. Just click on the picture of block one on my side bar and you'll be there!

Look at some of the pictures coming in already! I love how creative you all are! It's so much fun to see every one's version.

From Denise in Canada...

I love her background fabric, and that basket is just so cute!

From Darlene over at Quilting Daze ...

A bias check basket and the cutest snowman fabric ever!

And from my talented Bunny Hill helper and good friend Anne, a wool version!

She's great with wool applique' and she's getting so many questions on how to applique' with wool, she's promised to post some tips and "how to's" on her blog Cottons 'n Wool. She used a flannel background and isn't it darling?

If you want to sign up for my newsletter and can't find the link, just go to http://www.bunnyhilldesigns.com/, click on the home page and you'll find the link right below the slide show.

Be sure and print out the General Instructions. You'll find them right above the free pattern link on my web site. You'll find LOTS of information that will help.

If you're lookin for the same Lakehouse background fabric I'm using, you can find it here at Fat Quarter Shop. Kimberly says she has it on order and it should arrive anyday.

At the end of 12 months you can put these little blocks together for a surprise quilt! I've done my quilt in applique, but why not try it in wool or embroidery?

The first block is ready now! Just click on the side bar link and you'll be there. Be patient and wait for the PDF page to load. You'll need Adobe Reader on your computer and you can download the free software here.

So welcome to 2009 at Bunny Hill Designs. I'll be starting a Flickr group in the next few weeks so you can post pictures of your blocks as you work along with me. This should be a fun, fun year!

If you signed up for my newsletter it should be arriving in your email anytime now. In it you'll find another little surprise with a code to save you some money. Happy New Year everyone!
