It’s that time of year

It’s been such a busy week! I’m not sure where it went, but it just flew by!  Seems the season gets busier every year!  School recitals, last minute gift purchases, wrapping presents, shopping list after shopping list, it’s crazy!

Seems some of you have been busier than me!  I’ve already received pictures of finished A Tisket, A Tasket quilts!   Just look at these!

Block Twelve

I just can’t believe a year has gone by since we started “A Tisket A Tasket”!  A year!  And here we are at block number 12!  I started with a snowman and I’m ending with a snowman (ok, a snowlady).  Welcome December!

Block Twelve Applique

Block Twelve Redwork

I can’t wait to see all of the finished quilts! Take a peek at all of the blocks in my Flickr group!  So many of you have made me smile and I’ve loved seeing your work! I hope you’ll add pictures of your finished quilts!  I’ll be checking in to see them. And keep posting your blocks as you finish them.  I’ll be looking at those too!

And finally, I can show you my finished version of  the appliqué and redwork quilts!

See the rick rack in the binding?  I’ll be posting a tutorial “how to” soon, so please check back!

And the redwork!  Ohhhh, sweet embroidery!

As for next year, did you think I would just drop all of of you cold?  You, my blog readers?  My favorite people in the world?  You’ll be getting a little treat every month in 2010, starting in January.

As always, you can see the wool version of block 12 over at Cottons ‘n Wool.  The finished quilt will be coming soon!  Anne’s waiting for flannel to arrive! That’s right, we decided to go with flannel for the sashing.  It’s going to be so cute!

If  you’d like to purchase wool to make your own wool quilt, I found the best web site for you!  Woolies will love The Wool Basket!   I’m sure I could spend some time and money in this shop.

Happy December 5th everyone!  I feel like a grand reunion should be on the agenda in 2010 LOL!

Anne

It’s Tisket A Tasket Day!

Were you expecting a turkey in the basket? Well here’s the problem…I can’t appliqué a cute turkey. At least not inside a basket. Just can’t do it. You’d be asking each other “what happened at Bunny Hill?”.

So, because of my turkey problem, you get a squirrel in your basket! She’s a staple here at Bunny Hill. I’ve used her in several other patterns, and there’s no doubt you’ll be seeing her again. She’s got a bushy tail and she’s plump. Pleasingly plump! And the best thing is, she’s EASY to appliqué!

If you read my newsletter this morning, you already know about my contest. If you don’t get my newsletter (you can sign up on my blog), here’s the information on the contest:

Name this little squirrel, and you could win a Bunny Hill gift basket! Post a comment or email me with the name you love. If we choose your name, you’ll win this gift basket! (If you already have the pattern, you can choose another.) I’ll announce the winning name on November 26th. You’ll be seeing my squirrel in future patterns, only next time she’ll have a name!

Gift Basket

Good luck! Employees and family members of Bunny Hill Designs are not eligible to enter regardless of how brilliant the name might be.

And to see the beautiful wool version of A Tisket, A Tasket hop on over to Cottons ‘n wool!

A Tisket, A Tasket, It’s October’s Basket!

It’s October, the month of black cats and trick or treats

I have two little black cats that live at Bunny Hill, and you’ll find one in the basket this month!

Meet Topsy & Turvy !

Topsy and Turvy Collage

Topsy & Turvy are rescue cats.  A horrible man dumped them in a shopping mall parking lot and drove off.  We saw it happening.  They were only kittens but they panicked, we panicked, and after a lot of running, stress, and more running, we all ended up in the same car together. Ross and I rescued them. It was a miracle of sorts. We’ve had them about 4 or 5 years now and they are our very own little Halloween treats!  It was just before Halloween that they were dumped!

So let’s go trick or treating together!  You’ll find this free pattern here on my web site, along with all the NEW patterns from Bunny Hill here

And the wool version of October’s block?  It’s over at Cottons ‘n Wool of course!

And look at what just arrived from Moda!  It’s the French General Notebooks!  They are beautiful!  We only have a few to sell, so if you’d like one click here!

Have fun with the new block for October everyone!  Trick or Treat!

School Days, School Days

All the wonderful spools are back in stock! I’ve added this cute 6” wood spool. I actually had a few the first time but they are so cute I couldn’t part with them!

Wood Spool

Aren’t you glad it’s Labor day weekend and the 5th of the month all at once! I for one, am excited. I have so much planned for this weekend. It involves sewing, and more sewing!

I’ll be watching the Law and Order re-runs, or shows I’ve taped during the week. Shows like Criminal Minds, Without a Trace, and The Mentalist! Criminal Minds ? Tell me some of you like that show. Do you think I’ll get my yo yo’s mixed up if I watch Criminal Minds while sewing?

When I’m writing patterns I need absolute quiet, but when I’m sewing, it’s a different story. I love to watch TV and catch up on shows. What about you? Do you sew with quiet, TV, or music?

Have you download block nine of “ A Tisket, A Tasket” yet? It’s ready on my web site.

Block nine is a very smart Scottie dog. He walks the children to school, and carries a basket filled with apples for the teacher!

If you’re working on this quilt please show me your blocks ! Post them on flickr and join our group! There are some CUTE, CUTE blocks and quilts coming together!

And now that we only have three months left I can show more of the quilt! Don’t you wonder what the last three blocks will be?

You’ll have to wait until next month for October. In case you didn’t know October is my favorite month of the whole year!

Are you doing the wool version of this quilt? Don’t miss what my friend Anne has done this month. Her quilt is looking pretty cute. Gotta love those prims ( I even gave her a prim color for her name)!

Have a great weekend everyone! Sew away if you get the time!

Anne

If you get our newsletter you’ll have the recipe link for these cupcakes by Brigette.   If not, you can find it here!

I am in love with cupcakes and when it came to choosing something to put in the August basket, cupcakes were my first choice.  Of course we can’t have a picnic without a bug.   I love ladybugs too!

Here’s the appliqué version!

Block Eight

And, if you’re working on the redwork  you’re in for a treat!  I’ll show you a peek of the finished quilt!

I am enjoying this project so much -- I just can't wait for the fifth of each month to arrive -- you are so creative! Given your love of animals, my guess is that this month we will have a woolly lamb or sheep.

And now we begin the countdown to July 5th! Hummm wonder what the July block looks like? Here’s a few hints:

  1. I used a piece of cream wool in the appliqué version.
  2. The wool is outside of the basket.

Leave a comment, guess correctly what I’ve used the snow wool for, and you’ll be automatically entered into a drawing to win a Bunny Hill pattern of your choice!

Have a great 4th! I’ll see you all on the 5th!

Fill your basket with things that you love, and chances are you’ll be happy!  Well at least for a day.

BLock SixSo, I’m officially declaring today “Happy Day”! This little bird just brought you a bouquet of flowers,  she’s singing and she’s a paisley bird!

If you’ve been keeping up with my blocks then you’re 1/2 way through the quilt!  Isn’t that great?

Redwork Block Six

Is it the 5th already?

I have to tell you, I looked at the calendar this weekend and just couldn’t believe it was almost the 5th!  Does time fly faster when you’re busy?  I think it must!  I have new patterns coming next week, and today the next basket block!  Needless to say I’ve been busy!  It’s time for block number five!

Block Five

Happy May Day, Happy Mother’s Day!

So many of you have emailed me about finishing fabrics, measurements, etc.  for the basket block of the month,  I’ve decided to put the  instructions on my web site early.  I said December, but how long can I make you wait?   You’ll find the pdf here or here.   If you have your fabrics selected you can actually assemble row 1!  How exciting is that?

Here’s a little preview of how the quilt will look with the borders.  See that red stripe?  It’s a tiny little 3/4” inner border!  Just enough to frame the quilt.  You can find the yardage amounts and fabric sku’s in the newsletter that just went out today!

Basket block of the month blogAnd how about that Redwork version?  I’m a little behind on finishing the quilt because of quit market.  The center is together, but the borders will have to wait until after market.  I can tell you this…it’s REALLY cute so far!  Of course I’m using my Chelsea Manor fabric!

Redwork Block five

Basket block of the month 002-1

Are you working in wool along with my friend Anne Bryson over at Cottons ‘n wool?  I’m loving how it looks and we’ll be working on the finishing instructions for it in a few months.  We need time to recover from quilt market!  Click here and you’ll see what she’s created with block five!

Have fun with the newest block!

Anne

It’s Basket Day!

It’s April 5th and that means basket day at Bunny Hill!   Block number 4 of “A Tisket, A Tasket is ready and you can find the free pattern here.   I’ve filled the basket with a chocolate bunny and added a little wool chick!

Block Four Applique Photo

The bunny fabric is the brown check from “Sultry” by Moda Fabrics, # 30167-15.  I used the wrong side of the fabric for the arm and the back ear.

Here’s a sneak peek at the sashing I’m using to finish the quilt.  It’s from the Howard Marcus line “Legacy” by Moda fabrics # 46033-12.  I fell in love with this fabric and there’s not a block in the quilt that doesn’t go perfectly with it.   Very vintage and very pretty!

Sneak Peek Row 1

I’ll be giving you the outer border soon so you can be sure and get fabric if you want it.

Here’s the yardage requirements if you need them:

Sashing:  1/2 yd
Sashing posts:  1/4 yd or 1 fat quarter
Inner border:  1/4 yd
Outer border:  3/4 yd
Binding:  3/8 yd, or 3/4 yd bias

If you’re working on the redwork version we’re sewing ours together now.  It’s just so cute!

Redwork block 4

Row 1 with sashing redwork

The sashing and posts are from my very own Chelsea Manor fabric line!  The sashing is # 1938, Color 8.  The posts are # 1945 Color 88.  I’ll be choosing the rest of the fabrics for the redwork quilt very soon in case you want to purchase fabric while it’s still available.

And no, I didn’t forget about the woolies out there!  If you want to see the wool version go to Cottons 'N Wool!  Anne’s in charge of the “woolies” and I know she has a version you will love.

Have a fun Sunday everyone!  Happy quilting & stitching!

Hugs,

Anne
