We are here!

Hi everyone!  We’re in Houston and happy to be here!

Arrival

I have two rooms at the Hilton.   Here’s the view from one room…

The convention center…

And here’s the view from the other room…

Top of the Toyota Center and the air conditioning/ducts.

Guess what view I have?  This one!  The good news is we don’t spend much time in the room.

Here’s the walkway from the hotel to the convention center.

And then of course once you get inside the convention center, you see lots and lots of crates and boxes….

Moda boxes More Moda Boxes

And we just happen to be right across from the Moda booth…fun to watch the set up…

And the Moda Home booth…

And all over market you can see the most amazing props being set up.

Walls are being painted!…

And at our own booth, we have so many things to do!  We brought this chandelier to hang, but only 5 candles, so now we have to figure out how to make it work. Candles are impossible to find right now.

What to do!

And this little gal is going to fit right in our booth.  Isn’t that the cutest bow?

We’re waiting for boxes to arrive at our booth so we can finish set up.

More to come from market as soon as I get a chance to post.   Sample Spree tonight!

Wish you were here!

Anne

Three Day Weekend

This is the weekend to start new projects and put away the old ones. Organization is a word I no longer dream about. It’s real! I’ve been working on it all week. Going through drawers, rearranging shelves and cleaning out the old fabric. New fabric is now on the shelves waiting for me.

New Fabric 004

color 006

And, my “Rainbow O’Bella” is neatly aranged. “Rainbow O’Bella” is Brigette’s name for a bolt of every color of Bella fabric that Moda makes! I haven’t reached the rainbow but I’m close! I can pull from these solids over and over. I have two more shelves of yellows and neutrals.

I have an empty drawer for every new pattern I have planned in the next 4 months. As I pull the fabric and start designing, all the papers go into one drawer so I can always find them. It’s a system that works really well for me.

New Fabric 013

And my flowers are still blooming! Can you believe it? It’s been a week!

I still have a few market pictures to show you!

The Bunny Hill Booth…

Pictures 282

one of the few photos I have of my booth…

and Sue Daley and me…Sue is an Australian designer who specializes in English paper piecing.

Pictures 231

She brought me a treat to try…a Tim Tam from Australia! It’s a chocolate, wafer-like cookie and apparently they are very popular in Australia.

Pictures 230

And Camille and Bonnie…from Thimble Blossoms and Cotton Way. Isn’t this a great photo of them? I’m using their new fabric line and I’m so excited. I’ll post little peeks as I go along.

Pictures 339

And the gorgeous and so talented Sandy Gervais…

Pictures 345

Have a great weekend everyone! Tuesday is the start of a new week and new projects! I have lots of things planned and can’t wait to get started!

Anne

Feeling much better, thank you

I don’t know how the Europeans do it.  The time change just did me in.  My brain felt “fuzzy” and my words were actually coming out wardsback.  LOL! But today I am SO much better!  I couldn’t wait to get up to my studio this morning!

New fabric 002

I opened up my bundle of fabric from The French General and into my beautiful silverware box it went.  “Rouenneries” is my first Moda love from this market.  In shades of beige, taupe, gray, old red, and red, it’s so French and so elegant!  She even has LINEN in the line!  LINEN!!! Be still my heart!

New fabric 003

And what do you get when you put two green boxes together?

Pictures 152

The unveiling…finally!

New fabric 005

These are the precious little bunnies that Carrie brought to me at market!  Have you ever seen anything like them?  I adore these bunnies Carrie almost as much as I adore you!  Thank you so much!

New Fabric 006

And how about this bundle of “Sweet Abundance” by Camille and Bonnie.  I am LOVING this fabric too!  So many assorted colors to work with!  This is going to be a fun one and I can’t wait!

Pictures 197

Here’s a picture of me and Bonnie in Camille’s and Bonnie’s booth.  Had I known my collar was so bad I would have immediately fixed it.  You know that of course.

And then it happened. I was in my booth and the PERFECT hair cut walked in.  A customer came in and really, I could hardly concentrate on selling her patterns because I loved her hair so much.  She’s from Italy and I want my hair just like hers but I can’t fly to Italy once a month.

Pictures 286

She let me take pictures so I can show my hair stylist.  The next time you see me it will be from a side view.  Think I need to buy new expensive earrings.

More to come!

Anne

Day Two continued…

It’s after 10 PM here and tomorrow is a long day, so this has to be brief.  Just had to show you some more photos of market.

The Moda booth is decorated with linen from The French General.  She has this beautiful new fabric line out that actually has linen in it.  Very French and very beautiful! Pictures 175

Pictures 176

This is the Moda theme this market…DUZ it’s a special brand of Moda detergent…

Pictures 185

Check out this picture behind the Moda Home booth.  I swear it’s a Laundromat!

Pictures 188

And a new mother/daughter team designing for Moda called Sweetwater.   They design scrapbook paper and this is their first line of fabric.  It’s wonderful!  Even has a canvas fabric.  The line is called Au-Then-Tic.  Soft greens, taupe, black and white.  Pictures 186

And can you guess the Moda designers that would use a pink garden hose to decorate their booth?  It’s  darling!  Little Birdies in nests on the hose! Pictures 183 It’s Me and My Sister!   And this is their new pincushion…it’s a patchwork egg!

Pictures 180

And just look at the line of Chocolate mailboxes holding their patterns!

Pictures 181

And so my sweets goodnight.  We are back from sample spree and too tired for anything else.  I’ll be back soon.  Tomorrow is the first day of market…I’ll take pictures…

Hugs,

Anne

Day two of set up

Time for the photos I promised.  I’m about ready to leave for sample spree, but wanted to get theses posted!

Walking in this AM it was a lot busier.  These are shop owners figuring out their school house schedule for the day.  They go from room to room and listen to different speakers.  Really fun and you get a lot of info!

Pictures 161

How things change in one day.  It’s looking a little better from the walk way!

Pictures 162

Pictures 163

Special exhibits are getting set up…

Set Up Time!

Welcome to Pittsburgh!  Here’s where we’re staying!

Beautiful hotel and it attaches directly to the convention center.  If it’s raining outside (and the weather forecast says it will be soon) you just take the walkway over to the convention center.  No puddles to walk in, or messy hair!  Pictures 139

I have great helpers with me.  Sue and Nancy are waiting in the lobby for me to run back and get my camera.  See those smiles?  Don’t they just make you want to come into the Bunny Hill booth?

Pictures 128And that walkway I was telling you about?  Well it looks down onto the convention floor!  We’re going to be setting up on this side, about 5 rows back…

Pictures 143

…and on this side all the way toward the back (look for all the crates) is Moda!

Pictures 144

And then down the elevators and you’ll see this sign!

Pictures 148

It’s official!

We wait to check in, get our buyer’s guide and badge holders…

Pictures 145

And by tomorrow the buyer/shop lines will be long…

Pictures 150

and the friendly staff will be busy, busy.  No time to wave…

When you look behind the registration desks, this is what you see…

Several of those bridges I was telling you about and LOTS of water!

Pictures 146

Even a yellow bridge!

Pictures 147

We arrive at our booth and get ready to work…see that steamer Nancy has?  All the drapes and quilts get steamed to get out the wrinkles…

Pictures 151

And as we were working, Carrie (Miss Rosie) came by to drop off a little present.  Wait until I show you what’s in this little box from her!  Nope, can’t show you now because one has a hurt ear.  Has to be fixed first.  I LOVE them!

Pictures 152

So by the end of today we have moved along nicely.

Bows were tied…

Pictures 156

The sign is ready to be hung…

Pictures 157

…and quilts are going up!

Pictures 153

We were so tired we had to call it a day.  The 3 hour time change is really hard!  We treated ourselves to dinner at the Sonoma Grille.  Incredible!  The food was so good we made reservations to go back on Saturday.

Pictures 158

Nancy had pork tenderloins with plantain… Sue and I had salads and sides…Pictures 159

My salad has a cucumber bowl!

So tomorrow we finish set up and then tomorrow night is sample spree.  Then the next day is the start of market!

Lot’s more pictures to come!

Wish you were here!

Hugs,

Anne
