Cupcake Day at Bunny Hill!

It was cupcake day last week at Bunny Hill! We make any excuse to celebrate, especially when it comes to cupcakes!

Brigette supervised and we all had fun! This is the cookbook we used, and check out the extra large cupcake pan.

Pink frosting like no other in the prettiest shade of pink! I think I’m in love!

My grand-daughters Michaela & Alyssa got to frost…

…and then Brigette taught Michaela how to eat a cupcake sandwich!

We’ll share the end results and the recipe with you on Wednesday! Humm wonder why we’re waiting until Wednesday?

The Pink Box

It arrived in the mail looking quite unassuming.  A large priority mail box, like all the other boxes arriving and departing from Bunny Hill.

I knew it was special the moment I saw the return address, and a bit of pink tissue inside…Carrie Nelson, Miss Rosie’s Quilt Company. 

You just won’t believe the treats that were inside this box!  There’s a pink theme going on inside! 

It’s so amazing, this thing we call designing.  You actually end up with FRIENDS!   Designer friends!  Friends who think about each other,  who like each other, who care about each other!   How lucky is that?

I love designing, but I love the friendships even more.  Thank you Carrie!  I’m a lucky bunny to have a friend like you!

Pink Goes With Everything!

I’ve been into pink for quite awhile.  Put me in a room and ask me to choose anything I want and I'm pretty sure it would be something pink.

We’ve been busy this week at Bunny Hill, but not so busy that I can’t take a minute to appreciate pink.  This came today in the brown truck and it was a glorious moment.  Shhh…a minute of silence for pink…she’s  here! 

  

I carried her up to the studio for her first photo, and to show you that pink really does go with anything!  Isn’t she beautiful?  And now that she’s had her photo taken, I will carry her very carefully down to my kitchen and give her a home.  I’m so excited to own this mixer! 

And while I was looking online for the mixer look what else I found pink…

…chef knives, with white ceramic blades!  Of course I bought them too! Carried these knives up to the studio to prove my point…pink goes with everything…even pressing boards and rulers!  I have to say, as a pink lover I could NOT believe my good luck when I found these.  May just have to whip up a pink cake, in my pink mixer and cut it with my pink knife. 

So why am I going on and on about pink?  To prepare you for the quilt that’s coming in my next post.  My very first quilt.  I’m only letting you see it because of Camille and Carrie.  If you were in a room full of first quilts and had to pick the quilt I made, you would NEVER choose this quilt.  Not one scrap of pink in it!  Not one! And the appliqué?  Oh my goodness!  Think I need to get creative with the photo…

20,017 Comments For One Giveaway!

Can you imagine?  It’s true!  When The Pioneer Woman does a giveaway, she gets between 10,000 and 20.000 comments.  Check out her June 23rd cooking post.  Me,not having a clue, actually entered one of her giveaways.  She divided  it into 3 groups,  my comment was something like number 401.  Great I thought!  First one in the third group. Here I am I shouted and waved my arms right in front of my computer.  I was sure one of the three pink Kitchenaid mixers she was giving away was mine!

Ha! Did my jaw drop!  Over 10,000 comments in that one and #401 was swallowed  by the random number generator.

Over in photography she was giving away more things.  I figured out that to read all those comments you would have to start at dawn and go on for days.  Days of nothing but reading comments.  Strange how my mind even thinks of something like that.  LOL! 

She won the 2009 Blogger Awards for best blog and if you haven’t visited you should!  

And now to the point of this post, finally! It’s true I really want that mixer, but you can learn so much from her photography posts!  Read them, take out your camera and follow along!  I did!  Had no idea you could move the focus point around on a camera.  You can! Check out the photo of my pencil drawer!  I focused on the glass knob…the rest of the photo is blurry on purpose! 

Next time I’ll focus on some eyes or a quilt block or something exciting for you!   For now I hope you enjoy her blog.  She has great photos, recipes and garden and decorating tips. 

Back soon,  thinking about that mixer.  Should I use a credit card?

If you love bunnies

It’s bunny week at Bunny Hill!

If you love bunnies this week is for you! You’ll find a bunny or two in each of my posts.  It’s spring and bunnies are everywhere so I can’t help myself!  They fill the catalogs and the stores.  What’s a bunny lover to do?

Saturday a little package arrived that completely overwhelmed me with the thoughtfulness of the gift.  DJ LeVan sent me a little Steiff bunny!  Just look at her!  Isn’t she the sweetest thing ever?  And if you don’t know DJ LeVan, well I don’t either, but she’s a kindred spirit for sure!  I “met” her when she placed and order with Bunny Hill and I helped her with her order.  I’ve collected bunnies for years and this is my first Steiff bunny! Thank you DJ!

Want to make something with bunnies?

If you like the brown Chelsea Manor fabric you’ll love making this little bunny picture.  It’s so easy!  It has the Chelsea Sutton seal of approval.  She’s partial to the brown fabric so she’s very excited. 

I found this little frame at Home Goods.  They have so many to choose from, but I had something in mind when I choose the pink one!  It has a 3” x 3” opening that’s perfect for a the Chelsea Manor bunny! 

Here’s how I made it:

1. From the Chelsea Manor large bunny print, fussy cut the bunny fabric 2” larger than your frame opening. For the 3” x 3” frame, I cut my fabric 5” x 5”.  Center the bunny before you cut, and draw the cutting lines onto the fabric with a pencil.  (Tip: Use the glass from the frame to preview how your picture will look.)
2. Cut a piece of flannel or batting the same size as the fabric. 
3. Lay the fabric, right side up, on top of the flannel/batting.  Center both on top of the frame back, and bring to back as shown in picture below.  Pin to hold in place.
4. Double thread a needle, and stitch from side to side until fabric is secure; stitch from one side to the other, tie off and bring the next two sides to top.  Stitch from side to side again, trimming fabric under corners to reduce thickness.
5. Insert into frame and enjoy!

You’ll want to make one of these bunny pictures to go with the new pattern coming soon from Bunny Hill!  It’s called “Uptown Baby” and it’s the simplest baby quilt ever!  I’ve added a pink flange and a soft pink border to frame the brown bunnies from Chelsea Manor.  You can make this is a weekend!  Picture + quilt = perfect gift!  In pink and brown what uptown baby wouldn’t love this? Have a little boy?  Make it in brown and blue!

It's All About Pink

I adore pink! I would write in pink if I thought you could read it. I'd buy rose colored glasses and view the world in pink. Almost everything goes with pink and here at Bunny Hill it's considered a neutral.

Seems a few of you out there know that little secret of mine. Look at what arrived in the mail yesterday! A bag of pink things from Jodi at http://simplythisthatandtheother.blogspot.com! I met her through this wonderful world of blogging and she's become one of those blogging friends I always look forward to hearing from.

Isn't that pink "A" just the best? No one has ever given me a pink "A" before!

When I opened the box I was greeted by shades of pink tissue! Pink tissue makes a brown box look so inviting!

And when I saw this book you know I was in heaven! It's just delightful and there's that touch of pink on gray (or grey if you prefer this spelling).

And hidden behind all those wonderful pink goodies was this...

A box of PINK malted milk balls!
