Linen

I’ve got this “thing” with linen lately.  Well, not lately, I guess I’ve always had it.  But now that  French General linen is available from Moda I’m a bit more obsessed than I was before.  I love linen and I’ve spent the weekend with it!
I made myself a linen heart sachet to hang in the studio.  Something simple.  Something linen. 

It’s hanging on a wall next to my computer, from an old window. 

And then I made a new prototype bunny from my pattern “Five For Brunch”.  She’s linen of course and I gave her lop ears. 

I added a little apron, a flower garland necklace, and of course a bunny wouldn’t be a bunny without…

…a polka dot bunny tail! I’ve added directions for the apron, necklace and lop ears to the pattern. 

I’ll be teaching this bunny on March 5th at Thimble Creek in Concord, CA.  You can make her in just one class. Join me if you can!
And to all of you who read my blog, please stay with me as I work out the changes that are coming.  I’m getting a new “look” and possibly moving my blog to Word Press.  Change is very scary, but I think it will be worth it.  My web site already has a new look and a few more changes are coming to it too.  Many surprises are coming in 2010!
And I haven’t forgotten about the rick rack tutorial for “A Tisket, A Tasket”.  Next post I promise.

And Now Some Fun!

I just looked up the weather in Houston…it’s awful!  Hot, humid and raining… but not on our parade!            Houston weather

I may never leave the hotel.  We’re staying at the Hilton and it connects to the convention center.  Hotel to booth without going outside!  It’s the little things that make me happy!

Here at Bunny Hill it’s been a lot of work,  but I can see the finish line. New patterns coming, along with LOTS of new blog posts and so many fun things to share with you all!  I am really excited about this market!

Everything has a photo, the patterns are written and I’m waiting on the final proofs and brochures.

So how about a week of show and tell!  Are you ready?

Bitsy Button & Friends

Here’s Bitsy…

She’s  feeling so “young” and frisky!   And the words on the fabric fit my little dog perfectly! 

Bitsy has lots of friends on her quilt!

Just after last market, one of my blog readers emailed and asked me to design a dog quilt.  Carolyn had just lost her sweet little dog named Rosebud and she sent me Rosebud’s picture.  There was something in Rosebud’s eyes, just like Bisty’s eyes, and I couldn’t get Rosebud out of my mind.  I knew a dog quilt was in order. 

So Bitsy, and Rosebud, this quilt is for the two of you!  From me, to Bitsy and Rosebud, in Rosebud’s memory. I know  special dogs when I see them. I don’t think I’ll ever forget this little dog.

My Bitsy turns 14 on October 7th. and Carolyn now has a new rescue dog named Shellie.  I’m sure Shellie’s  on this quilt along with Chelsea too! 

I hope all you dog lovers out there love Bitsy Button & Friends.  The pattern will be available by Monday!

I promised you a sneak peek!

Le Jardin, A French Garden Quilt…

My new block of the month has a French garden theme. Oh I hope you love this fabric as much as I do!  It was wonderful to work with AND so much fun!    I have to say, this quilt should be hanging on my dining room wall!  Instead it will be traveling to shops and shows for a year or two, so all of you can see it!  By the time she comes home I will finally be able to enjoy it!  I will never tire of this beautiful fabric! Vintage & French, it’s just wonderful. 

The French General and Moda are the perfect combination. I can’t wait to see what everyone has done with the Roueneries fabric at market!

If any of of you are shops and would like a fabric guide for Le Jardin,  I’d be delighted to email it to you. Just sent me an email and let me know you are interested.  I designed the entire quilt using this fabric line. 

I can’t wait to show it to you.  Only a few more weeks to go!

Yoyoville is under construction

Yoyoville is  happening here at Bunny Hill! We’re getting ready for our open house (quilt market)! Yoyoville will feature 3 model homes, all with different elevations and front yard landscaping.  The material is “Simple Abundance” from Moda.  The name just seems to fit!

We’ve got an architect, project engineer, several construction workers, AND we can’t forget, the all important finisher, assembling Yoyoville.  It’s THE perfect town and can be constructed in any country. 

Nancy Ritter is my project engineer. She left the studio a few days ago with a box full of fabric and returned with this!

Her instructions from me were to make four patches and  yo-yos.   Cut  fabric squares for the yo-yos, fold to find center, finger press,  glue baste yo-yos to center of square.  Simple, right?

Look at Nancy’s creation!  I’m calling it the “Ritter Maker”.  It’s amazing.  No more folding or finger pressing. Just lay your “Ritter Maker” (patent pending) on top of the square and plop in your yo-yo! You remove the Ritter Maker with the engineered scotch tape handle.

 

Watch this! Place Ritter Maker on top of fabric square.

Add a thin line of glue to yo-yo and place in center of Ritter Maker.

Press to adhere, and remove Ritter Maker with special handle.  (That’s a scotch tape handle you’re looking at.) 

The Ritter Maker can be adapted to any size square.  It’s made from template plastic!

Now here’s the best part!  I’ll be teaching Yoyoville at our local quilt shop, Thimblecreek  on December 11th.  If you live in our area,  please join me for a day of construction fun!  We’ll be using the large Clover yo-yo maker, along with the “Ritter Maker”.  Nancy has promised one for every person in the class!

Thank you to my construction workers, Brigette Mason and Sandy Feigner.  Your yoyo talents are beyond belief!  And my finisher?  Anne Bryson get ready! I need your precision skills!

In Love With Color Cards!

The brown tuck came again yesterday. 

 

…and left this stack of boxes!  Hummm…see some United Notions boxes in this stack! 

It means more “French General” Pincushions AND this color card…

Can you believe it?  This is the Moda Bella color card!  I am so in love with this card and this fabric!  This is the best solid collection ever and it comes in all these colors! 

You’ll find Bella fabric in almost every design I make.  Bella =  variety & easy to find fabric.   The next time you’re shopping, stock up on a selection of Moda Bella.  You’ll have an instant rainbow of useable color!

In love with toweling!

Is it possible? Can you actually fall in love with toweling? You know, it’s that fabric that comes with two finished edges. All you have to do is cut and hem two ends and you have a towel! A towel! So how exciting can that be?

I opened up this piece of LINEN toweling today and fell in love. I can think of so many things to do with this! I may have to order bolts and bolts just to have…then line them up on top of the shelves in the kitchen to look at every day. If I tie a bow around the bolts they become decor don’t you think? 25 bolts? Is that enough?

It’s so wonderful and I’m going to do something really cute with it. You’ll have to wait a bit to see my pattern, but have faith. This toweling is going in my kitchen and hopefully yours!

Pure, Natural, Timeless and I love it!

I love this fabric!  AU.THEN.TIC by Sweetwater and Moda Fabrics.  It’s delightful, new and so creative! 

And I’ll be using it this week in a new design.  I can’t wait to get started!   If I can just stop reading the fabric long enough I might get something done LOL!

Just look at the fabric in the above photo.  Can’t you just see this in so many things?  I can!  I can appliqué and read at the same time.  Who could ask for more?

Or how about this print?  It’s exactly how I feel when I look at it!  These words say it all!  So, so cute!
