Ok, she’s not really a squirrel, but that’s our neighbor’s nick name for Chelsea. She’s about the right size, and I have to admit she’s beginning to look like she’s storing up for winter! Yes, I’m still trying to control her eating and I’ve added two walks a day. Walks as long as those little legs can go.
Both Chelsea & Bitsy are loving all the names coming in for the real Bunny Hill squirrel. Some clever names out there! I’ve received lots of emails with the cutest stories! Seems feeding squirrels is a popular past time. Amazing how many of you have them eating from your hand!
Here’s a handful of names so far: Calli, Olivia, Butternut, Muffin, Netty, Ginger, Clover, MiraBelle, Fleur, Hershey, Hazel Nut, Tillie, Sadyee Squirrel, Topher, Daisy, Miss Nellie, and on and on! This is so much fun! Thank you one and all. Keep them coming!
Remember, you have lots of time to think of a name. Thanksgiving is still a few weeks away. Yes, you can submit more than one name and it can be on any blog post through November 24th.
I’m sewing all weekend and finishing up my first “little” pattern for spring market! Hope your plans include some sewing time. Remember the holidays are coming! We had a flying squirrel named Amelia, many years ago, courtesy of our Siamese cat, Happi. Happi captured Amelia in our yard, brought her to my husband, who despite confrontation from both cat and squirrel decided to keep her as she was just a baby. Amelia had her own house (a cage) but was allowed to run up and down the curtains, around the bed (teasing the cat and standard poodle- who never caught her). I would love for you to name the Bunnyhill squirrel for a Louisiana squirrel named, Amelia
My dad has always had a name for squirrels and has always called them Squiggley's - it must be a Northern thing! My hubby and I now both call them that and our dog Henri knows just what we're talking about when he hears the word. Therefore my name to submit for yours is 'squiggley'.

You forgot Sally! Ok, I might not be good at names, but I do have a good squirrel story. One night my mom and dad were eating dinner and they heard this scritch-scratching in the wall. Dad took a piece of paneling off, and there in the wall was a mother squirrel with two little babies. The mother had apparently just died so they took the babies out and put them in a dog kennel. One of them didn't make it, but Dad bottle fed the other one until it was old enough to be turned loose. Dad sure loved that squirrel and he used to watch the squirrels in his backyard and wonder if one of them was his little friend. The End. ;-) Now, you should vote for Sally.

(I wonder if, maybe, her toenails were a tiny bit shorter, she would be more likely to want to be more active on her footies? Maybe her vet can clip them back a bit for her? I know when our little old man's toenails get a tidge long, he doesn't like his walks as much - that's how I remember to trim them!)

Since we call a squirrel an eekhoorn I think you should call her Eekie or Eeky if you prefer.
Poor Chelsea. It's so degrading having to be weighed isn't it! How about Squirrel Nutkin? This was the name that Beatrix Potter chose for her delightful book about squirrels. As I said under my November block the red squirrels have almost gone from the UK, they're only found in the North of England and Scotland so he needs all the help he can get.

I had a squirrel who came to my office window every day for two years to get his sunflower seeds. If I didn't open the window right away and put the seeds out, he'd really start rapping on the windowpane and squawking up a storm! His name was Claude - but that's a terrible name for a squirrel, so don't pick that one!

I can't remember where heard/saw this name, but I think "Sew Nutty" would fit your squirrel perfectly.
Lets see. what would be a nice squirrel name. How about Bitsa, Patchy, stashette (as in stash her nuts for the winter) or plain ole missy as in missy squirrel.

When my daughter Patricia (now a Junior at Wellesley College in MA) was young, she had very long wavy red hair that she loved to have in a pony tail. When she ran, the pony tail would stream out behind her like a squirrel's tail.
Her father's nickname for her is Trixie. I think she would be willing to share her name with your squirrel.

I said Chester before - but I've noticed that the squirrel is a girl. So how bout chrysthanthemum? Chirpy? Twinkleberry (that was the name of the brother to Squirrel Nutkin in Beatrix Potter's book) or little fellow who damages the wiring in my attic, digs holes in my yard, destroys all my bird feeders and bring his family to consume 10 pounds of birdseed in 1 day (really just kidding - that name is way too long).
A full-figured squirrel should have a delicate name. Is she a Tulip? Daisy? How about Blossom? My squirrels just adore eating my Apple tree blossoms every spring, so much so that this year our tree didn't have one apple ;}

I thought of another suggestion for the Bunny Hill Squirrel. How about Chelybits? Kind of a mix of Chelsea and Bitsy. They will then have a special place in all your patterns.
