It’s Tisket A Tasket Day!

Were you expecting a turkey in the basket? Well here’s the problem…I can’t appliqué a cute turkey. At least not inside a basket. Just can’t do it. You’d be asking each other “what happened at Bunny Hill?”.

So, because of my turkey problem, you get a squirrel in your basket! She’s a staple here at Bunny Hill. I’ve used her in several other patterns, and there’s no doubt you’ll be seeing her again. She’s got a bushy tail and she’s plump. Pleasingly plump! And the best thing is, she’s EASY to appliqué!

Block eveven applique

If you read my newsletter this morning, you already know about my contest. If you don’t get my newsletter (you can sign up on my blog), here’s the information on the contest:

Name this little squirrel, and you could win a Bunny Hill gift basket! Post a comment or email me with the name you love. If we choose your name, you’ll win this gift basket! (If you already have the pattern, you can choose another.) I’ll announce the winning name on November 26th. You’ll be seeing my squirrel in future patterns, only next time she’ll have a name!

Gift Basket

Good luck! Employees and family members of Bunny Hill Designs are not eligible to enter regardless of how brilliant the name might be.

And to see the beautiful wool version of A Tisket, A Tasket hop on over to Cottons ‘n wool!

Hugs,

Anne

I think the squirrel is much better than a turkey. Turkeys have no relevance to us here in England in November only December, so the squirrel is much more internationally friendly. I think she should be called Scatz, scatty, like me.

say Betty or Nutty the Squirrel :-)

I love the squirrel and have good memories about one.
When my mother passed away in 2001 and we walk to the church for her funeral, right in front of us there came a squirrel out the bushes and sat right in front of us on the pad. He/she looked at us if she was going to say: Don't be sad and enjoy the memories you have about your mother.
Every time when I now see a squirrel it put a smile on my face ! Okay ... now the name ...
When I read this I thought instantly of the name: mister plumpy or a totaly diffirent name: sqeeze (I don't know why this last name came up LOL)

I think she should be called Ms. Izzy .. we have lots of squirrels in our yard... they are always scolding my house cats, swatting their tails and making such a noise. We use to feed them until they became so demanding they were crawling up and down our patio door and they are always zinging and zagging in and our of my flowers hidding they peanuts. I don't even think they like peanuts they much, they'd much rather have walnuts! They will eat them right away... I saved a whole nest full of baby's from a blue J that had knocked their nest out of the tree, no fur on their little bodies yet. I helped the Mama come and get them and take them up another tree.. Poor Mama worked so hard. I sat there on the lawn, making a squirrel sound to help her find her babies.. Quiltingly Yours, Crissie.. Martinez, CA

Sandi said...

I love this month's block. Makes me think of my dad and the squirrels he would feed. He took care of them like they were family pets. And in a way, they were, as he could put out the corn for them and then go in and sit down with a cup of coffee and watch the squirrels as he sat in his chair in the living room. I think I would name this squirrel "Zippy". That's the only way to describe how squirrels seem to zip around the yard, gathering acorns and such, then scurrying up and down the trees with them. I wasn't sure if the name is to be left here or entered at your newsletter so I signed up for it and will find out. :-)

Thank you so much for these patterns. I look forward to them every month.

Good luck with the name thing. Many of the ones I would have suggested have already been posted, but I do have one more. It will be interesting to see what you choose? About the gender of the squirrel: the posts seem evenly divided, you refer to the squirrel as feminine. That's why I suggest a variant of the name Betsy--a nickname for Elizabeth--and call her Bitsy.

Thanks again.

Since you are calling the squirrel "her" in your post, I really like the name Ella. Squirrels are special at our house also...my FIL used to do ceramics and that was his signature mark on all of his pieces. I cherish each and every one that I own!

The first name that pops into my head is Hazel, as in the hazelnuts I keep seeing the little squirrels scurry away with in my back yard. I also think Peanut is a cute little name.
Thanks for letting us play for another giveaway. Such fun.

Hi Anne,
Thanks for the opportunity to play! Thank so much for all the blocks you have "GIVEN" us, I just love them. Lots of good suggestions, but how about "Praline"?
It sounds so fancy, just like your little friend :)
Thanks again,
Doris Anne

I have an abundance of your squirrels in my family room because my Pumpkin Hill quilt is on display on my sofa. I have two names for your consideration --- Ms. S or Squeaky. Thanks for your adorable patterns!!

I think Nutella is a perfect name for the squirrel.

Oops....I see someone just posted Nutmeg. How about Pumpkin or Maple? So cute!

I think she looks like a "Sabina" or "Sabine".

The other name that popped into my head was "Stitches" or "Miss Stitches".
She is a lovely squirrel.

Thank you for letting us have this chance to win.

May be "Fuzzy Tail"? All the names are great.

KSince she is a femal squirrel, I would name her Bushshe. For that lovely full bushy tail!
