A smarter cookie yet!

This smart cookie has out-smarted the husband again! Did you ever have any doubt? I've been thinking about the living room/library and I just ordered the prettiest pale aqua wool rug. Now I have the aqua I wanted in the room, and my husband will never know what happened! I also ordered cream linen boxes for the stack of magazines I can't bear to part with. I have almost all the old Victoria Magazines and my friend Brenda told me they are going to publish it again! I may need more shelves! You too can subscribe at http://www.victoriamag.com

The Bunny Hill Studio is slowly coming together and today is my first day actually designing in it! It feels so wonderful to have a space of my own, even if it isn't finished yet. I was able to draw using my own special pencils and paper and it felt like heaven. I'm working on my new fabric line that will co-ordinate with Miss Emma's Garden. What fun in a room that's filled with light! I'll be posting studio pictures as I go along, but first I have to clean it up .

No one ever talks about shipping, but I thought you might like to see where it all happens. Bunny Hill shipping now has it's own room, lined with shelves for patterns. We bought these at Ikea and after many words that I wouldn't want you all to hear, my husband had them put together. There are actually 75 little cubes total! Now add a TV, shipping table, computer, and a comfortable chair and you have the "shipping" department. This is a room I only go in to drop off orders. Yes, there are empty cubes for future patterns!

I started this post last night and now it's another day so back to work. Have a great day!

One Smart Cookie!

Our new house has a living room and dining room that are right across from each other and both rooms will be the same color. We decided we would never use the living room so instead we are creating a library, with bookcases along each wall, some comfortable chairs and a throw rug. My husband thinks he's a decorator and so we had our first little "tiff" over the library and dining room. It went something like this:

  • Him..."I think we should paint the walls a beige color".
  • Me..."I could never live with beige, I want a pale, pale aqua like Restoration Hardware".
  • Him..."You always get what you want, and this time we need to compromise. We have to come up with something that will work for both of us".
  • Me...thinking, but not saying it...yeah, right.
  • Me...saying " Then let's settle on a yellow. You get a sample and we'll paint part of the wall and see how it looks."
  • Him..."OK, but I want a yellow with some brown in it"
  • Me...(thinking again), augghhhhhhhhhhh!

So off he goes to the paint store and a yucky, brownish yellow gets painted on part of the wall. After the paint has dried and the light hits the room he can see that it really looks like Grey Poupon mustard. No Grey Poupon for me! I suggest that we just leave the walls white, put white book cases, white chairs, cream throw rug and white curtains and we have a white room with dark hardwood floors. He agrees, thinking he is getting out of painting two rooms! I AM one smart cookie!

Since you like photos, I'm posting one before the room is anywhere near being done. This is one wall with bookcases. No curtains, chairs, rug etc. yet, and everything on the bookshelf keeps changing as I unpack more boxes. So be patient and I'll show you the finished room in about 6 weeks. (Takes that long to get chairs). I'm going to order my curtains from http://www.laylagrace.com. They have white ones that have smocking at the top! Perfect for a manly beige room don't you think? (:

Bunny Hill Studio

I've spent the last week, with the help of my husband and my assistant Nireko, getting the Bunny Hill studio in order. It is really a studio! I've gone from a small bedroom to a large room with lots of light and space. We are having so much fun unpacking all the things and putting them away. My studio is upstairs and I have the whole space to myself. I am still waiting on some things to arrive (four to six weeks) and then I'll take a full studio photo. Until then I'll post some little vignettes as I go along. Thanks to Cindy at http://www.cutepinkstuff.com I have the cutest little jars for my buttons!

My antique hutch will hold button, ribbons and trims.

This little scene is what I see above my computer every day!
The clock and little jars came from Cindy!
This must be heaven (:

Spring Market Photos 2007

Anne Sutton, Jennifer Bosworth (Shabby Fabrics), Verna Mosquera (The Vintage Spool) and Meg Hawkey (Crabapple Hill)

The booth right across from me was the fabulous Meg at Crabapple Hill. She also designs fabric for Henry Glass and all their designers were together (Buggy Barn and Heather Mulder Peterson to name a few). It was so much fun being able to meet them all! Then, Jennifer and Verna came by and we were so noisy I thought we might be asked to leave! A photo moment for sure. It took forever to get this picture because we couldn't stop laughing!

Me and my very good friend Brenda Riddle from Acorn Quilt and Gift Company.

Brenda's booth was just as I pictured it would be. Soft and sweet. That smile you see on her face is one that is always there! Her new book "Comfort and Joy" sold out the first day. That says it all for the book...it's a beauty!

Me and another good friend, Vicki Bellino from Bloom Creek. This was her first market and she was having so much fun! Just wait for Fall Market! No stopping her now! I'm talking her into doing a blog so look for it in the future. Right Vicki? You promised!

We arrived in Salt Lake City without a thing to decorate our booth. At the last minute we found out the pink, vintage baby bassinet I planned on shipping required a box we couldn't find. Fortunately we arrived a day early and were off to visit the local shops. My friends at Piper's came to our rescue and before I knew it we had more than we needed, including a vintage baby buggy. It was one of those times that you just stand back and realize how good people can be. I took some photos of this darling shop. A Quilt Sampler favorite and I can see why!

Hat collection above the back door at Piper's Quilt Store! I want this for my studio!

Have you ever seen anything so pretty? Wool floss hung by ribbons and a wood stick. Simplicity at it's best...beautiful, as was the whole store!

Knitting and Heirloom embroidery at Piper's Quilts! Old crafts that are making a comeback. This display was calling my name. It was so pretty! Look at the little pink dress with the embroidered trim!

Wow! Such a long post for me! I've got to go unpack some more boxes, but I'll have lots of pictures to show you soon I promise. Now where did I put that exercise bike?

Applause is needed!

The Bunnies Go To Quilt Market

More Bunnies at Quilt Market

I'm finally at our new house in Discovery Bay, California and I need everyone of you to come help! If I have all of you here I may be able to get finished in a week (: The good news is my studio is HUGE! The furniture I have only fills up half of it. Shopping here I come!

I seriously thought I was going to be able to arrive home and start posting. When I couldn't find the cord that connects the camera to the computer I realized it just wasn't going to happen. We've been in our new house for 5 days and finally, today we get blinds! Tomorrow cable for the TV and maybe sometime this week groceries.

Quilt Market was a whirlwind and we had so much fun! I am busy filling orders and doing the paper work that goes with them. So much paper work and so little time! I'll be taking pictures of my studio progress for you, but first I have to clear the floor. I want a practical studio, one that is functional but also pretty.

The rest of the house will have to wait. Who needs it anyway?
